The Sports Service is creating opportunities for staff to be active and focus on health a key priority.
Cambridge Half Marathon
The University of Cambridge Sports Service is delighted to offer a number of places for the Cambridge Half Marathon to University and College Staff free of charge as part of its Active Staff programme. You can find out more about the Cambridge Half Marathon event by clicking here.
This year, places will be awarded by a selection panel, and participants will be categorised into one of three categories; First Timers, Just for Fun and Personal Best Chasers.
If you'd like to enter the ballot for a place in the event, please complete the webform available on our website - https://www.sport.cam.ac.uk/cambridgehalf
Entries into the ballot end on Friday 22nd November.
Active Staff Programme
We’re working on delivering a programme of group exercise classes around the University, bringing the sessions to you. Classes are free to attend for all university staff and last around 45 minutes.
So far, we’ve got Pilates and Yoga at the West Hub, and Band Blast at The Post Doc Academy Centre. We’ve got plans to introduce some more of these, plus dedicated sessions on mobility, core and supporting women pre and post menopause.
If your department would like to host a class, we’d love to hear from you! The space should be big enough for around 15-20 people, have easy access for all university staff, and be available at the same time each week where possible.
To book into one of the current classes, or to keep an eye on new classes being released, visit the Active Staff section on the Cam Uni Sport App.

Small Group Coached Running Lunchtime Courses
Small group running is one of the most effective methods for improving running performance. There is great power in setting off with others, on a shared challenge, enduring and supporting each other.
We will organise runners into groups based on similar ability levels, so you can challenge yourself at your own pace. Groups will be small, between 5 – 10 runners, to ensure everyone makes the most of their training.
Distances include brisk walking (2km), 5km, 10km, Half Marathon. Set your bar high and help each other to clear it.
