Anne-Pia Marty, a fourth-year PhD student in CEB and the star of the department’s Cold Case video, is set to trade her laboratory skills for running shoes.
Known for her work on microscopy and cold-adapted biology in collaboration with the British Antarctic Survey, Anne-Pia has become a familiar face on the West Cambridge site – you might even have seen her on the screen by reception.
Her research, featured in the Cold Case video and the 'Rules of life' article, explores the fundamental mechanisms that enable organisms to thrive in extreme, cold environments. This innovative work not only advances our understanding of life at low temperatures but also underscores the practical applications of cutting-edge microscopy techniques.
In less than three weeks, she will take part in the Cambridge half marathon with a goal of raising £250 for the Cambridge Rape Crisis Centre (CRCC), a local charity offering vital support and advocacy for survivors of sexual violence.
“I’d love your support – please help me reach my goal by donating at https://www.justgiving.com/page/anne-pia-marty-1, or come cheer me on Sunday 9 March,” she said.
