The table below lists the equipment available for sharing within the Paste, Particle and Polymer Processing Group (P4G).

Caleva 120 spheronizer

Stainless steel, 120mm rotating friction plate device

Carbolite oven

High temperature furnace with programmable temperature profiles.

Fluid bed dryer

Endercotts bench scale fluid bed dryer. Flow rate and temperature controllable.

Silverson high shear homogeniser

Stainless steel homogeniser with a sample cup volume of ~1 litre.

Tapping machine

Used in conjunction with a graduated cylinder to measure the tapped density with automatic counting.

UV spectrometer

Thermo Electron Corp Helios Gamma UV-vis spectrophotometer. Can be used without a computer.

Vacuum oven

For non-hazardous solvents only. Mainly used for water removal.

Water deaerator

This consists of a sturdy tub with lid. The water is loaded in its own vessel, then vacuum deaerated.

Zwick strain frame

A 50 kN strain frame. Usually configured to act as a ram extruder. This is a universal testing machine. Limited number of fittings.
