Why brand guidelines matter
If you ever put together a poster, presentation, report or even just send emails, this update’s for you.
The University has refreshed its brand guidelines, with clear templates and tools to help everyone present a more consistent and professional look – without starting from scratch each time. It’s not about being flashy – it’s about making things clearer, simpler and recognisably “Cambridge”.
Our department’s identity
We’re part of a wider University, but we also have our own distinct voice. Our department identity uses the central branding as a base, with a look and tone that reflects who we are: curious, collaborative and driven by real-world impact. You’ll see our colours, fonts and logo guidance reflected across our templates – all designed to make your life easier while keeping things consistent.
Here’s what’s new – A full set of ready-to-use templates (Canva and InDesign) now available via SharePoint:
- Posters
- Brochures
- Research posters
- Reports
- PowerPoint decks
- Invitations
- Teams backgrounds
- Roll-up banners
– Headed stationery (letterhead, memo, compliments slip, logo-only card)
– Updated email signature templates – we would appreciate if everyone could update theirs by Friday 25 July 2025
– Refreshed style guide (how to write clearly and consistently): https://www.cam.ac.uk/brand-resources/content/style-guide
– Copyright and legal guidance (important if you’re using images, graphics, or third-party content): https://www.gov.uk/government/collections/intellectual-property-copyright
External vs internal
If you’re creating something for an external audience, including social media, press, or public events, it still needs to be checked by the CEB comms team. If you’re running an internal seminar or team event, these templates are a great way to keep things looking polished and professional without extra work.
Action needed
1. Visit the new brand hub: https://www.cam.ac.uk/brand-resources
2. Download the templates you need from SharePoint
3. Update your email signature
