The Higher Education Statistics Agency (HESA) has published a register of companies spun-out from UK Universities. Developed in conjunction with the Policy Evidence Unit for University Commercialisation and Innovation (based next door at the Institute for Manufacturing), this register is the first of its kind worldwide. An open resource for policymakers, researchers and anyone interested in uniting research and commercialisation.
The register includes key identifying information for spin-out companies from all UK universities (all those founded since 2012 to 2013) as well as older spin-outs that remain active today. This dataset lists over 2000 companies, with more than 10% of the total (299) coming from the University of Cambridge alone!
